In addition to providing research equipment, ARS conducts its own research and development of innovative technologies.  Thanks to a grant from the Florida Production Research Advisory Panel, ARS has developed a patent-pending technology we are calling HydroFast.  HydroFast technology uses environmentally friendly, warm-water-soluble starches to extend the effective lifespan of various chemicals (e.g. fertilizers & pesticides) where they are deployed by preventing them from washing away by rainfall.

Because the starch-based chemicals require warm-water to dissolve, they are much more weather-resistant, yet the starches break-down slowly, thus releasing the chemicals over extended periods.  This dramatically reduces the frequency of reapplication of chemicals, in turn resulting in vast savings in materials, labor, and equipment, while increasing the effectiveness of the application.

ARS is pleased to announce the  18x18x30 Large Custom VCC.  This is the newest addition to our Volatile Collection Chamber lineup.  This new chamber utilizes a versatile structural aluminum framing system which allows change-out of glass panes as well as interface panels.  Additionally, this framing system allows attachment and connection of tools and equipment and provides a strong, rigid structure.  As always, we build these chambers to our customers' specifications, in this case 18" x 18" x 30" with aluminum guillotine blades to isolate a growing plant.

Results are in from experimental research by doctoral student Hyun Jong Park at the University of Florida Department of Chemical Engineering using the Silicon Wafer Furnace Tray device  manufactured by ARS.

The images at left are taken of the unique  formation of Indium Nitride ( InN ) crystals by a scanning electron microscope (SEM).  The crystal diameter is around 100 nm and the length is around 1 micron.  ( No further information is currently available, but we will provide a link to any future releases )
